Our Music Team

Iria Calderhead, Choir Director

I am very excited to be the new music director of Fairview Grace United Methodist Church.  Since receiving my Bachelors' degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music, I feel that God has prepared me for this new role by blessing me with several wonderful opportunities in the field of music as well as positions of leadership outside of the music world.  I pray that God will enable me to continue to use music as a way of drawing people closer to Him.  I thank all of you for being accommodating, supportive and appreciative of the choir.

New members are always welcome in our choir.  For those unable to make a full commitment to participate in our weekly choir we invite you to join for the Christmas Eve or Easter Sunday services.  For these special services attendance is required at only three or four rehearsals.

If you are interested in sharing your gift to glorify Him for some special music in the summer, please feel free to contact me .  My phone number is (440)734-0464.  My email is Iriac@msn.com

"Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs.  Sing and make music In your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."

Mike Farmer, Organist/Bell Choir Director

I began my organ training while a college freshman.   I  gave up Saturday night movies and Sunday night dinners, in order to pay for organ lessons.  Within four months, I was serving as organist in my first church.  Over the 4 years since then I have served in churches of all the major Protestant denominations as well as in Catholic, Syrian Orthodox and Greek Orthodox churches.  These last two were more of a challenge as I had to learn the Mass in Arabic and Greek.

I began my work with bells about 30 years ago, when I founded and directed the bell choir at St. Paul Lutheran Church (Westlake).  Since then I have been bell director in three other parishes.  I'm excited to be joining the worship team at Fairview Grace, as bell director and organist.

My academic background includes a bachelor's and master's degree in Latin, and a bachelor's degree in music.  In addition to my academic degrees, I hold a Service  Playing Certificate and Colleague designation from The B Guild of Organists.  The Guild awards both of these as the result of comprehensive testing in organ playing and other technical musical skills.

For the past 33 1/2 years, I have been an agent with State Farm Insurance Companies.  I hold three professional designations in insurance: Chartered Life Underwriter, Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant.
